The Issues That Shape New Mexico’s Future

There is going to be a wave of labor shortages across the United States soon because of the massive decrease in population that is coming. We as New Mexicans have to be prepared. I will push for laws and protections now so our people are not left behind when that shortage hits. We don’t wait for crisis, we lead ahead of it.

New Mexico does not fully own its rights to water in the Rio Grande because of old political laws placed before our time. That has held us back for too long. It is time to restore what should be ours and create abundance through strategic, tactical development. We will regenerate, preserve, and protect our water so our communities and future generations can thrive.

Local farmers are vital to New Mexico’s health and future. I want to push local agriculture to success by building the right foundation and ecosystem to support fresh, healthy food for our citizens. That starts with making sure farmers have fresh water for fresh food. When agriculture thrives, New Mexico thrives.

It all starts with supporting local businesses, the mom and pop stores that keep our towns alive. Increasing wages without strategy only fuels inflation and forces local businesses under because they can’t compete with corporations. I will prioritize policies that support New Mexican owned businesses and local companies that work long hours just to survive. Small business is the backbone of America, and I’m going to protect ours.

Energy is getting more expensive, and families are feeling it. We need to get ahead of the curve. I will pursue clean, capable energy solutions and the right policies to reduce energy consumption and costs for New Mexicans, by over 20%, while also expanding our power and independence as a state.

We are going to orchestrate a massive push to reduce the incentives to remain homeless by creating real opportunities to step off the street. That means preparing people for the workforce and giving benefits tied to finding jobs, not staying unhoused. We will build a strong, supportive step-off program focused on growth, dignity, and helping people return to stability.

New Mexico should be taking the lead in AI and new technologies. We have the space and potential to become a futuristic state full of opportunity, a true “Land of Enchantment” for the future. We will grow safely and eco-friendly, preserving our wildlife and beauty while being ahead of the curve instead of behind it.

Too often our cities and communities operate separately instead of as one state. I will focus on policies that bring New Mexicans together, build communication, and unify cities around their strengths. When we cooperate as one New Mexico, we unlock a stronger economy and a better life for everyone.

We must make New Mexico a place our youth want to stay. That means changing how we teach, creating safer environments, and giving children a constructive education that truly prepares them for the workforce. We will open stronger career paths here in New Mexico and attract top talent to our state, because our young people deserve a future they don’t have to leave to find.

Local businesses will always be the backbone of our economy, and we will protect and support them first. At the same time, the right companies can grow opportunity for all New Mexicans, keep our top talent employed, and attract more of it here. I will use simple, smart tax incentives to bring in the right corporations and partnerships so New Mexico flourishes.
